Museum Partners with ArtHaus of Decorah

On July 28, 2022, the Laura Ingalls Wilder Park & Museum partnered with ArtHaus in Decorah to bring Comics Club to the museum grounds, offering a fun, hands-on creative experience for local youth.

The activity was led by Jurgen Dovre, Day Camp Leader with AmeriCorps VISTA, who guided participants through the basics of visual storytelling. Children used their imagination to create original cartoon characters while learning how stories can be told through art.

The museum was filled with creativity as kids proudly shared their finished artwork. The program provided an engaging way for young visitors to connect creativity and learning in a welcoming, outdoor setting.

Programs like Comics Club reflect the museum’s commitment to offering family-friendly, educational opportunities that build community connections and encourage creativity.

The Laura Ingalls Wilder Park & Museum extends a heartfelt thank-you to ArtHaus, AmeriCorps VISTA, and everyone who helped make this event a success.
