Events & Fundraisers
Several events and fundraisers are held during the year that help preserve the museum, meet our obligations, and develop more programs and opportunities for our visitors. Check back here for more details as the event dates approach. Please join us for these celebrations!
Birthday parties at the Laura Ingalls Wilder Park & Museum offer young Laura fans a fun experience. Dress up like Laura, see where Laura lived when she was 9 years old, hear some of her stories, and experience homemade toys and games.
Group size: up to 10 children
Suggested ages: 6 – 10 years old
Program: The experience will include dressing in costume, taking photos in the covered wagon, touring the museum, a craft activity, a story, a game, and treats.
Total time: 2 hours
May 28, 2018– Memorial Day Open House
This is held at the Advent Christian Church,one of the properties owned by the museum. The church is located at the gate of the Burr Oak Cemetery. It was built in 1877 when the Ingalls family lived in Burr Oak. Refreshments will be served 9:30 – 2:00. 2577 237th Ave. Burr Oak, IA
Held in February
Annual Spaghetti Supper,
Pie Auction, Live Auction and Raffle
This annual fundraiser helps with general operating expenses and site improvements. The meal includes spaghetti, garlic toast, salad, dessert and beverages. $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 5-12. Free for ages 4 and under. Location is announced in December.
June – Laura Days Celebration June 22-24, 2018
The celebration begins Friday night with a 5K run. Saturday’s activities include pioneer crafts, demonstrations and children’s games; skillet toss; checkers tournament; grand parade; pie auction; entertainment; beanbag tournament; raffle; greased pig contest; and the naming of Little Miss Laura and Young Almanzo. Sunday’s activities include an ecumenical worship service, featuring musical selections from Laura’s childhood and a potluck meal.
Annual Fund Brunch held in December
at the Winneshiek Wildberry Winery

Annual Fund donations are used for building improvements, matching funds for grants, and educational programming. Everyone is invited to the brunch, which is free, but reservations are required by calling the museum at 563-735-5916.
